He says he’s found his second wind and fallen in love with the music again. JK1 The Supernova has quite the history with hip hop culture. At 10 years of age, he started writing rhymes during classes, at P.S. 86, in Brooklyn, NY. By 14 years old, he knew rapping was what he wanted to pursue. A self-proclaimed “Backpacker” throughout his NYC high school, freestyle cypher years, JK1 would later learn the song writing process as a member of a rap/duo group, Fallen Angels. Eventually plans were cancelled when having to relocate to Connecticut, however he surprisingly found many like-minded individuals with the same musical creativity and passion.
Fast Forward, through 1998 till present day, his musical contributions include, a hip hop collective of 5 Connecticut MC’s by the name of “Clash Of The Titans” with ‘Time Is Your Enemy’ (released 2001), his solo debut album; “The Strangest Secret” (released on Halloween, 2 years later). He aptly dubs his first solo effort as, “Roughly, 47 minutes of my life-altering experiences.” JK1 The Supernova later became part of “Phenetiks”, a group notably selected as part of the Rawkus Records “Rawkus 50″ signees. Two albums in JK moved to Florida, made working with the group difficult from a distance.
Currently, JK1 is building up momentum and has recently re-released his solo project “The Strangest Secret”, which was recorded in 2002. He’s putting the finishing touches on his next solo project, currently untitled but set for release in late 2011, with the bulk of material on the album produced by himself. He also has a few undisclosed projects under wraps, which includes producing for several artists under his beat-making alias “Arthur-Itis”. So mind your Pints & Quarts Ladies & Gentlemen.
